The Democratic Party future looks very bright. Even though the results of Tuesday's election are not what we have hoped. I can take comfort in knowing that New Hampshire elected a Senator to facilitate that bright future. U.S Senator-elect Maggie Hassan is going to do great things for New Hampshire.
Maggie Hassan began her career as a business attorney after attending Northeastern University Law School
n 1999 when Governor Jeanne Shaheen asked her to serve on the Advisory Committee to the Adequacy in Education and Finance Commission.
In 2002 Maggie took a shot at running the state senate she took a shot at running for the state senate. Unfortunately, she did not succeed. Two years later she finally succeeded and defeated an incumbent.
She was both President Pro Tempore and Majority Leader
She helped pass Universal Kindergarten
She helped lower the state's dropout rate by increasing the dropout age to 18.
Helped pass Marriage Equality in New Hampshire
State Senator Maggie Hassan lost in the 2010 tea party wave. That did not stop her. In 2012 She ran for Governor of New Hampshire and won.
She had Innovate New Hampshire Jobs plan to spur economic growth
Helped create the first tuition freeze in 25 years.
Increase aid for Scholarships
signed into law bipartisan legislation doubling funding for the state's research-and-development tax credit and extending it permanently.
In the Historic 2016 election cycle, she challenged incumbent U. S Senator Kelly Ayotte and edged her by a very narrow margin. This race is historic in its own right because Maggie Hassan is the first Democrat to hold this seat since 1975.
